Jordaan, Amsterdam, Zip Code: 1016
I moved from New Delhi to Amsterdam in 2018 to work for an IT company. After living in De Pijp for about two years, I shifted to a beautiful apartment in Jordaan (1016). Living in the artistic area of Amsterdam, I am constantly surrounded by a vibrant and diverse community of artists, musicians, and creatives. Jordaan is known for its picturesque canals, charming townhouses, and bohemian atmosphere.
The area is home to many art galleries, studios, and performance spaces, making it a hub for the city’s creative scene. In fact, my house is not too far from the famed Anne Frank House. Being an Indian in this neighborhood, I appreciate the mix of cultures and influences that make up the community.
Amsterdam is known for its tolerance and acceptance of different backgrounds, making it a welcoming place for immigrants and ex-pats like me. The Indian community in Amsterdam is also quite vibrant, and there are several Indian shops and restaurants in the city where I can find a taste of home.
I also take advantage of the many opportunities to be involved in the local arts scene. Amsterdam has thriving theater and dance communities, and there are many opportunities to see performances or even participate in productions. I am also able to find local art classes or workshops where I can continue to develop my own creative skills. I feel like I have found a place where I truly belong, and I am constantly inspired by the creative energy that surrounds me.
