As I step out of my cosy apartment in Berlin, the brisk morning air greets me with a sense of anticipation. It has been two years since I left Baroda in Gujarat and embarked on a thrilling journey to this vibrant city. Berlin, with its blend of history and modernity, has captured my heart like no other.

My daily routine begins with a leisurely stroll at Alexanderplatz, a bustling square at the heart of the city. The iconic TV Tower looms above, a symbol of Berlin’s resilience and unity. As I make my way towards my workplace, I pass by the impressive Mercedes-Benz bank, its sleek facade a testament to the city’s thriving economy. It reminds me of the opportunities that brought me here, working in the dynamic field of IT.

But it’s not just work that keeps me enthralled in Berlin. On weekends, I eagerly explore the city’s charming cafes and bustling markets. One of my favourite spots is the vibrant Mauerpark Flea Market, where locals and tourists alike gather to hunt for unique treasures. The lively atmosphere, filled with music and laughter, invigorates my spirit.

Another beloved haunt of mine is the charming Kollwitzplatz, a cozy square teeming with quaint cafes and inviting shops. Here, I often indulge in delicious cups of aromatic coffee, accompanied by freshly baked pastries. The warm smiles of the baristas and the chattering of fellow coffee enthusiasts make me feel a sense of belonging, as if Berlin has become my second home.

Berlin’s multiculturalism is another aspect that makes it so special to me. The city embraces diversity, and I find myself surrounded by people from all walks of life. The Indian community here, though small, is tightly knit, and I cherish the cultural events and gatherings that bring us together. Through these connections, I find comfort and a taste of home, even in a foreign land.

The city’s vibrant arts scene is a constant source of inspiration for me. Apart from the iconic Berlin Wall, galleries and museums, such as the Museum Island, allow me to immerse myself in the rich history and creativity that Berlin has to offer. Whether it’s exploring classical masterpieces or admiring contemporary installations, I find solace and enlightenment within these hallowed walls.

As the sun begins to set over Berlin, casting a golden glow upon the city’s skyline, I can’t help but reflect on how this city has become my sanctuary. It has embraced me with open arms, providing me with endless opportunities for growth, both professionally and personally. Berlin is no longer just a place I work and live in—it has become my new home away from home.
