Jayaram Kadambala: Growing through quality assurance and enterprise data projects

When millions of customer records move from one enterprise platform to another, accuracy becomes essential. A missing field, an incorrect mapping or an overlooked validation can create downstream challenges for businesses. Over the past eight years, Jayaram Kadambala has built his career in quality assurance by helping organisations validate these critical processes before systems go live.

Based in Hyderabad, Jayaram works as a Test Analyst at Cognizant, where he specialises in ETL testing, data warehouse validation and functional testing. Over the years, he has gained hands-on experience with SQL Server, Azure Databricks, Snowflake, Informatica, Reltio Master Data Management, Azure Data Factory and Agile testing practices while contributing to enterprise projects across healthcare, life sciences, media and insurance.

His journey, however, began far from the technology parks of Hyderabad.

“I originally hail from Palasa, Andhra Pradesh, a region known for its rich culture and vibrant community values,” he says. “Growing up there instilled in me a strong work ethic and deep connection to my roots.” He went on study at the Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University Kakinada, which laid the foundation of his career.

Learning through enterprise projects

One aspect Jayaram values about his profession is the opportunity to work across different industries. Each project has exposed him to new business processes, technologies and ways of solving problems.

His responsibilities have included validating ETL processes, analysing data integrity, collaborating with developers and business analysts, identifying defects before deployment and ensuring data moves accurately across enterprise systems. Along the way, he has also supported junior colleagues and worked closely with teams to meet delivery timelines.

One project that remains particularly memorable involved GSK’s global Reltio Master Data Management programme. The assignment focused on validating the migration of enterprise data from Informatica to Reltio MDM, requiring careful verification of business rules and close coordination across multiple teams.

“One of my proudest milestones was leading as Reltio Tester in GSK projects, delivering successful Informatica data migration to Reltio MDM that significantly improved performance and efficiency,” he says. He also values the recognition he received for encouraging innovation within the team. “Receiving recognition for driving team innovation stands out as a rewarding validation of my efforts.”

Adapting along the way

Like many technology professionals, Jayaram has experienced projects where timelines shifted and technical requirements evolved unexpectedly.

Rather than viewing these situations as setbacks, he sees them as opportunities to learn. “Navigating tight deadlines and unexpected technical shifts taught me how to adapt quickly under pressure,” he says. “Overcoming these hurdles built my resilience and reinforced the importance of continuous learning and problem-solving.”

These experiences have strengthened his ability to work across different technologies while remaining focused on quality and timely delivery.

Learning from diverse work environments

Although based in India, Jayaram’s work has involved supporting projects for global clients across multiple industries. Working within different organisational structures and technology ecosystems has broadened his perspective on collaboration and adaptability.

“Transitioning across different organizational structures and complex technical ecosystems has broadened my understanding of adaptability and collaboration,” he says. “Growth happens when you comfortably step outside familiar environments and embrace systemic change.”

He believes these experiences have helped him communicate more effectively with cross-functional teams while gaining a better understanding of how technology supports business objectives.

Looking ahead

Having built a solid foundation in quality assurance, Jayaram hopes to gradually take on greater responsibilities in leadership and project delivery.

“At this stage, my primary aspiration is to step into strategic leadership roles where I can drive high-impact initiatives,” he says. “I also aim to mentor rising professionals and contribute meaningfully to industry-wide innovation.”

Apart from work

Outside work, Jayaram enjoys travelling and playing sports. He believes making time for personal interests helps him stay focused and maintain balance. “I make a conscious effort to schedule dedicated downtime, as maintaining a healthy work-life balance keeps me energised and creative,” he says.

Looking back on his journey so far, he feels the most valuable lessons have been simple ones. “Professionally, I’ve learned that consistency and open communication are the keys to long-term success,” he says. “Personally, staying grounded and remaining open to continuous self-improvement has helped me navigate life’s unexpected challenges.”

For Jayaram, every project has been another opportunity to strengthen his technical skills, learn from different teams and grow as a professional. As organisations continue to invest in modern data platforms, he hopes to keep building on that experience while contributing to projects where quality, collaboration and continuous learning remain central to success.
