Indian Paralympic

India made its Summer Paralympic debut at the 1968 Games, competed again in 1972. The country's first medal in came in 1974 Games, with Indian paralympic athlete Murlikant Petkar winning a gold medal in swimming. Since then, India has won 9 Gold, 12 Silver and 10 Bronze medals in the Paralympics.

The 2020 Games saw India's best-ever medal haul with Indian paralympic athletes winning a total of 19 medals (5 Gold, 8 Silver and 6 Bronze). This result was better than the medal haul of 12 medals of all previous Paralympics appearances combined. Currently, India stands on the 57th positions among the paralympic countries. Country's paralympians have won a total of 19 medals in the 2020 Games, pushing the Indian sports to new heights.
