(December 17, 2025) On a chilly December morning at Taj Rishikesh Resort and Spa, the lobby is abuzz with the chant of ‘Om’ reverberating through the space. 75 people from Singapore, Taiwan, Hong Kong, China, Malaysia, the UAE, the UK, the USA, Vietnam, Mauritius, Cyprus, Italy, Trinidad, and several parts of Europe are here for Awaken – The Journey of Self-Discovery. Its a convergence that feels like yoga’s global calling card. “I wanted to come here, as I am going through a transition in my life workwise, and this is exactly what I needed at this time of introspection,” says Valerie from Hong Kong.
Known worldwide as the Himalayan Yogi, Siddhaa Akshar has devoted his life to making the ancient wisdom of the Himalayas accessible to seekers across the globe. Through his efforts, he has guided over 20,00,000 individuals on their spiritual journeys and nurtured a worldwide network of 50,000 teachers in yoga and spirituality.

A childhood shaped by saints and stillness
Akshar was born in the sacred region of Himachal Pradesh, near the revered seat of Baba Balaknath Ji. His life unfolded naturally among saints, sadhus and wandering yogis. “From a very young age, time was spent in their presence observing breath, silence, and the depth with which they lived. These early influences created the foundation for a lifelong journey into yogic sciences,” he recollects in a chat with Global Indian. His education progressed in two parallel streams. While formal schooling continued like any other child, the real training happened in the Guru-Shishya Parampara, where knowledge got absorbed through discipline, proximity to the master and a readiness to be shaped.
“Training in the snow-clad Himalayan ranges cultivated endurance, focus and humility. The mountains developed a deep understanding of the human body as a powerful instrument capable of extraordinary refinement. The Siddhaa sciences became a major area of exploration: the relationship between breath and mind, the way energy shapes experience, and the inner geometry that governs posture and movement. Over time, these teachings revealed the immense potential within the human system and how it can evolve into clarity, strength, and bliss through correct guidance,” he says. The Himalayas played a defining role in shaping his thought, discipline, and purpose.
Yoga – the Himalayan way
Siddhaa Akshar is making yoga accessible on a global platform and spreads the Himalayan lineage teachings across the world through Akshar Yoga Kendraa. It began as a vision rooted in the responsibility to share Himalayan teachings with sincerity and purity. As the teachings spread across regions, it became evident that people from diverse backgrounds were seeking stability, strength, and clarity. Their curiosity showed how deeply the world required yogic wisdom presented in a clear and accessible form. Akshar Yoga Kendraa evolved into a dedicated space where individuals could train their body, mind and breath with the same discipline upheld in the Himalayan tradition. It became a bridge through which ancient Siddhaa and yogic sciences could reach seekers across India and around the world.

The Himalayas carry a simple truth: that the human body is a rare blessing, gifted with higher intellect so one can seek, grow, evolve in strength, and use that strength for the greater good. “This understanding naturally draws seekers deeper into yogic science. Breath transforms thought, discipline awakens hidden capabilities, and inner stillness reveals tremendous power. Once this experience touches a person even briefly, it becomes the direction they choose to follow,” he says.
Over the years, Akshar Yoga Kendraa has developed structured training systems that have guided and certified more than 50,000 yoga teachers, many of whom now serve as ambassadors of yogic knowledge in India and abroad. “The institution has also taken up long-term social projects, including the development of universities, colleges, community centres and old-age homes, ensuring that yogic knowledge reaches every layer of society,” he says.
Global spotlight
Akshar Yoga Kendraa’s journey with the 21 Guinness World Records became a medium to demonstrate the strength, precision and capability that disciplined yogic practice can awaken in the human system. These events brought together practitioners, including many international students who trained with sincere focus and dedication to explore their highest potential.
“When large groups breathe together, hold postures together or move in complete synchrony, a powerful field of energy is created. This collective discipline shows how beautifully the body responds to breathwork, alignment and inner steadiness. The achievement of the 21 records helped the global community recognise yoga as a complete science, one that builds physical endurance, sharpens mental clarity, and stabilises the emotional system. The entire experience served as a reminder that the human body carries extraordinary capabilities when guided with knowledge, consistency, and Himalayan wisdom,” explains Siddhaa Akshara.
Role model
The teachings that are shared through Akshar Yoga Kendraa come from the Himalayan Siddhaa lineage, where knowledge is passed down with great discipline and purity. These teachings focus on strengthening every dimension of a human being – physical, mental, emotional, and energetic – so that life becomes stable, purposeful, and elevated. “A central part of the work today is Siddhaa Abhyaas, a powerful Himalayan practice that aligns breath, spine, and inner channels. Students from many countries train in this method because it helps them develop focus, resilience, and clarity in a very practical way. Along with this, the Anandoham philosophy, the understanding that bliss is the natural state of the human system, gives practitioners a deeper direction toward peace and inner fulfilment,” he says.
The impact is visible in the global community that has formed over the years. Students from the Middle East, Europe, America, Asia, and Australia come together with one intention: to strengthen themselves and contribute positively to their families, workplaces, and society. “This is the true essence of the teaching role: to hold the knowledge, share it sincerely and allow it to reach every seeker who is ready for inner growth,” he adds. Siddhaa Akshar carries with him a deep sense of responsibility. “India has offered the world some of its most profound gifts: yoga, meditation, the Siddhaa sciences, and the understanding of breath, consciousness, and balance. To represent this heritage on international platforms means carrying the essence of the Himalayas with sincerity and humility,” he mentions.
Overcoming obstacles
Every journey brings its own set of challenges, and the yogic path is no different. One of the most significant challenges in today’s world is maintaining the purity of ancient teachings in an environment that often seeks quick results. “The Himalayan tradition emphasises depth, discipline, and sincerity, and it takes careful guidance to help students experience the true essence of these practices,” mentions the spiritual guru.

Another challenge has been supporting people from diverse cultures and backgrounds who arrive with different expectations, lifestyles, and emotional patterns. Himalayan sciences such as breathwork, Siddhaa Abhyaas and energy alignment help bridge these differences beautifully, allowing each person to grow at their own pace. When students begin to feel clarity, strength and balance within themselves, the teachings speak for themselves, and the challenge naturally transforms into understanding, he informs.
Siddhaa Akshar shares that his inspiration comes from many sources, but the Himalayas remain the deepest well of guidance. “Their silence, strength and timeless presence remind us that clarity is always available when the mind is steady. The saints and Siddhaa masters who walked this path before us also serve as constant inspiration; their discipline, compassion and mastery of the inner world continue to illuminate the path for every seeker,” he adds.
Himalayan teachings in their purest form
He believes that every moment holds the possibility to rise higher. “This understanding supports people across cultures and ages, reminding them that the ability to grow, evolve and uplift others already exists within them,” he says. The path ahead is focused on carrying Himalayan yogic sciences to seekers across the world with greater depth and accessibility. Akshar Yoga Kendraa is expanding its global initiatives through international retreats, advanced teacher training, online academies, and dedicated centres where people can experience practices like Siddhaa Abhyaas, elemental alignment, and ancient Himalayan teachings in their pure form.

Looking ahead Sidhaa Akshar points out that the future will see more collaboration with global communities, deeper research into yogic sciences, and programmes designed to support leaders, youth, and families in discovering greater clarity and inner stability. “The intention is simple: allow Himalayan wisdom to reach every sincere seeker and help them grow in all aspects of life, health, purpose, strength, and spiritual awareness. The future holds immense possibilities, and these teachings will continue to guide individuals toward their highest potential and toward contributing positively wherever they go,” he signs off.
