Shantanu Narayen was born on May 27, 1963, in Hyderabad, India. He grew up in a family of educators and was raised in a multicultural environment. Narayen attended the Hyderabad Public School, one of India’s most prestigious schools, where he excelled in academics and sports. 

Narayen moved to the United States to further his education. He received a Bachelor of Science in Electronics and Communication Engineering from Osmania University in Hyderabad, India, and a Master of Science in Computer Science from Bowling Green State University in Ohio.

Narayen started his career at a Silicon Valley start-up called Measurex Automation Systems in 1986, Joined Apple Inc. in 1989 where he worked as a senior product manager. He then worked for Silicon Graphics for nearly a decade, rising to become the Vice President and General Manager of its Multimedia division. In 1998, he joined Adobe as Senior Vice President of Worldwide Product Research and later became the Executive Vice President of Worldwide Products.

In 2007, Narayen became Adobe’s CEO, succeeding Bruce Chizen. During his tenure, Adobe has become a leader in digital media and marketing software, with its Creative Cloud and Experience Cloud services being widely used by businesses and individuals around the world.
