(Our Bureau, May 18) India’s Adline Castelino is the third runner-up in this year’s Miss Universe pageant. It’s a first for an Indian contestant since Celina Jaitley ended the 2001 Miss Universe edition as the fourth runner-up. Twenty-two-year-old Castelino, who traces her roots to Karnataka’s Udupi, won the internet for her well-rounded responses to questions on Covid-19 lockdown lockdowns and fighting inequality. A model and social media influencer, Castelino is also an LGBTQ+ activist and backs causes such as creating awareness about polycystic ovary syndrome. Andrea Meza of Mexico was crowned Miss Universe 2020.
