Indian students traveling to US fear delay

(Our Bureau, May 18) Indian students who have been accepted for courses in the US are worried they might not be able to start classes in the Fall semester of 2021, The Times of India reports. Though there is no restriction on students traveling to America under the F1 and M1 categories,  students fear they might not be issued visas on time as US consulates in India are presently closed due to the surge in Covid cases. Experts say interview dates may be preponed once consular services  resume. “Students from India should be prepared to take their first semester online from home if there are visa delays in view of the pandemic situation,” an immigration attorney told the publication. She also said students should keep their universities informed of the delay.
