US-based IIT BHU alumni donates Rs 1.3 crore for engineering fellowship programme

:

Manu Srivastava and Srikanth Kommu, the 1994 alumni of the Indian Institute of Technology (BHU), have donated Rs 1.33 crore to their alma mater for the research excellence fellowship programme. The programme will help recognise and encourage engineering faculty members doing research in a particular area, as approved by the selection committee.

The US-based duo signed an agreement with Prof Rajeev Srivastava, the dean (research and alumni affairs). The fellowships will continue on a perpetuity basis except for the area of research.

The fellowship for engineering faculty will be awarded for recognising the faculty from each of the three departments of chemical engineering and technology, mechanical engineering and metallurgical engineering. IIT(BHU) director Prof PK Jain and the dean (resource and alumni affairs) thanked the alumni of the 1994 batch for instituting the fellowship programme. “The contributions made by the 1994 batch alumni will go a long way and make a strong impact on strengthening the academic and research ecosystem at the Institute,” the director said.
