The expat life in The Peak, Hong Kong

Work brought me to The Peak, one of Hong Kong’s most beautiful neighbourhoods, in my opinion. I moved here around five years ago to work at a global investment firm and have been passionate about exploring and experiencing all that Hong Kong has to offer.

Every morning, I wake up to beautiful, panoramic vistas of the city, with the towering skyscrapers, bustling streets and my favourite, the harbour – I love watching the boats moving in and out. It is an expensive place to live but well worth it, in my opinion. The Indian diaspora is small but lots of expats live in The Peak, so I mingle with people from around the world, which has taught me a lot about different cultures.

I’m quite keen on fitness and I explore the area’s hiking trails and parks when I go on my morning run. I usually take the route which starts by going down the hill towards the city and passes through Hong Kong Park. Then I head back up the hill, passing by the Governor’s residence and the clubhouse. The route is challenging with some steep inclines, but the views make it worth it.

As a history and architecture buff, I visit the city’s museums and temples as much as I can, I try and visit the Hong Kong Museum of History and the Museum of Art as often as I can. Otherwise, I simply unwind at the local coffee shop, The Cupping Room.

Living in The Peak has been incredible, and I am fortunate to call it home.
