The right roots

Mira Swarup’s early life was profoundly shaped by a military upbringing, which instilled a deep appreciation for social presence and etiquette. Attending nine different schools over 15 years exposed her to a wide range of perspectives from a formative age. Academically, she earned a bachelor’s degree in biotechnology from the Amity Institute of Biotechnology, followed by a postgraduate diploma in pharmaceutical management from ICRI, Delhi, and an MSc in clinical research from ICRI, Cranfield University, UK.

“This scientific and analytical perspective has been crucial in validating and improving the theories and methods I use in my sessions today, ensuring my training strategies are supported by concrete data and industry best practices. The significant turn towards holistic healing and emotional well-being came with my Bach Flower Practitioner certification. This further shaped my approach, allowing me to assist individuals in communicating more effectively by recognising and addressing their emotional patterns,” she tells Global Indian.

Career cues

Her career began with a successful decade-long stint in renowned healthcare organisations, including Johnson & Johnson, where she rose through four promotions in nine years as a clinical researcher. Despite these early achievements, a professional setback highlighted the limits of past accomplishments in commanding influence.

“This experience was a catalyst for my quest to master trust-building through communication and presence. My work has consistently involved global organisations and international reach. As an independent trainer and coach, I have collaborated with leading corporations such as BCG, KPMG, Coca-Cola, and eBay. My programs are tailored for diverse teams, including tech groups supporting internal stakeholders in Singapore for DBS Bank, focusing on enhancing communication effectiveness with counterparts across geographies. Post-COVID, many of my sessions are delivered virtually, allowing me to connect with a global audience,” she explains.

Juggling act

While she admits to “donning many hats,” Mira thrives on the dynamic interplay between her roles. As an entrepreneur, she has turned her passion into a successful business of Impact Communication Coaching and speaking, which demands strategic oversight and constant innovation.

“As a speaker, I share insights on critical communication topics across various sectors, drawing from my expertise as an Impact Communication Coach to dismantle ineffective patterns and help people improve interactions personally and professionally. My role as a mentor allows me to guide aspiring professionals, while consulting involves designing customised programs for individuals and corporate entities. My background in scientific research ensures these programs are data-supported and align with industry best practices. Integrating the Bach Flower Practitioner aspect is seamless because it addresses the emotional patterns that often hinder effective communication. I believe in a comprehensive and life-changing learning experience, carefully incorporating the concepts of consciousness, charisma, and competence,” she says.

Making an ‘Impact’

Mira’s interest in Impact Communication Coaching stemmed from a deeply personal experience that ignited her quest to master trust-building through communication and presence.

“My military upbringing had already instilled in me the value of social presence and etiquette. This, combined with a persistent motivation to accomplish my potential and a transition from healthcare to personal development, honed my focus on transforming communication. I found my true calling in helping people present themselves more compellingly. Influenced by luminaries like Werner Erhard, Eckhart Tolle, and Marshall Rosenberg, I became passionate about driving genuine transformation, fostering self-awareness and behavioural change beyond mere instruction,” she says.

Global trajectory

Her aim is to simplify communication and presence in a way that allows borders to dissolve and communities to thrive. This philosophy is deeply embedded in her coaching, where she leverages online platforms and digital tools to ensure global accessibility and connect with her international audience. “It’s about bridging cultural gaps and fostering understanding, enabling individuals and organisations to succeed in a rapidly changing, interconnected world,” she explains.

Her professional journey underscores that true impact comes from how you connect and resonate with people, not merely from accomplishments. She recalls a project with internationally based client teams:

“The focus was on enhancing their communication effectiveness to better support and collaborate with counterparts across geographies. This underlined the critical importance of nuanced communication in a globalised workforce and reinforced my commitment to helping professionals navigate complex cross-cultural interactions. Seeing the tangible shift in how individuals interact—and the positive ripple effect it creates—continually inspires me,” she adds.

Balancing act

Work-life balance, she believes, is a continuous endeavour rather than a fixed state, guided by three key principles.

“I examine tasks and commitments to identify what truly matters and align them with my core mission. This helps me say ‘no’ to what doesn’t serve my purpose and ‘yes’ more intentionally to what does. While I embrace being an entrepreneur with varied roles, establishing routines helps, but I also build in flexibility to adapt to unforeseen circumstances and personal needs. This could mean dedicating specific blocks for focused work and, equally important, for personal time, exercise, or family.

“As a Bach Flower Practitioner, I understand the importance of addressing emotional patterns. Recognising when I’m feeling overwhelmed and taking proactive steps—whether through self-reflection, mindfulness, or engaging with seasoned coaches and psychologists—is crucial. It’s about not just managing time but managing energy and emotional reserves to avoid burnout and maintain productivity and joy,” she says.

Looking ahead

Mira is deeply motivated by the transformative power of communication—watching individuals unlock their potential and achieve their aspirations by shifting how they present themselves.

“My clients, seeing their growth and success, are a constant source of inspiration. True influence and impact don’t come from accomplishments or innate personality; they come from conscious and continuous effort to build trust through communication and presence. It’s about being authentic, understanding others, and continually refining how you connect. This commitment to self-awareness and intentional communication is what truly enables you to be seen, be heard, and be followed,” she notes.

Her future plans centre on deepening the impact of her work and reaching an even broader audience. “I aim to continue developing cutting-edge programs that incorporate the latest research on behavioural patterns and emotional recovery, collaborating with seasoned coaches, business leaders, and psychologists. I’m particularly interested in leveraging digital platforms to expand the global accessibility of my coaching and workshops, further dissolving geographical limitations in communication. The goal is to continue fostering impactful partnerships with corporate clients and empowering individuals, ensuring that my mission to help professionals realise their aspirations through enhanced communication skills continues to grow and evolve,” she concludes.
