(Our Bureau, June 11)
Mumbai-based ZEE5, the world’s largest video streaming platform for South Asian content, is bringing its services to the US starting June 22. The company is targeting the US’ South Asian diaspora of 5.4 million with Indian, Pakistani and Bangladeshi content, said Archana Anand, chief business officer of ZEE5 Global. A part of Subhash Chandra-led Essel Group, ZEE5 is launching its annual plan at $49.99 for 130,000 hours of content across 18 languages. Its launch timing is ideal given that many Indians and South Asians are unable to visit home because of the pandemic, The Streamable reports. The US’ streaming market is estimated to be valued at $32 billion.
