Got Covaxin jab? Some US universities require re-vaccination

Written by: Our Bureau

(Our Bureau, June 8) Some American universities are asking Indian students that were administered Covaxin or Sputnik V jabs to get themselves re-vaccinated before starting classes. The reason: Covaxin and Sputnik V don’t have World Health Organization’s approval yet and universities are unsure about the efficacy of these vaccines. Students are understandably cagey about the side effects of being re-vaccinated. Speaking to The New York Times, Kristen Nordlund of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said:

“Since Covid-19 vaccines are not interchangeable, the safety and effectiveness of receiving two different vaccines have not been studied.”

India sends 200,000 students to American colleges every year.
