(Our Bureau, June 5) Drugmaker AstraZeneca has appointed India-born doctor and pharmaceutical leader Aradhana Sarin as its new chief financial officer. A company press statement said Sarin, who has more than 20 years of experience with financial institutions and healthcare majors, will move to London from the US to take up the role. Before this, the 46-year-old served as CFO of rare disease-focused Alexion Pharmaceuticals, which was acquired by AstraZeneca last year for $39 billion. An MBBS graduate who practiced in India for two years, Sarin moved to the US 23 years ago to pursue MBA from Stanford University Graduate School of Business. Aradhana Sarin replaces Marc Dunoyer who will step down as CFO and retire from AstraZeneca’s Board. Remember, the Oxford-AstraZeneca vaccine is made in India as Covishield.
