Naren Gursahaney, a respected Penn State alumnus and Board of Trustees member, has made a significant $3 million commitment to the university, in a powerful gesture of giving back. His contribution stems from a deep connection to his alma mater and a forward-looking vision that merges innovation with community.
Elected to the Board of Trustees in July 2022 on the business and industry slate, Gursahaney has long been an engaged member of the Penn State community. His philanthropic involvement spans across academic and student-focused programs, including advisory roles in the College of Engineering, support for the Student Veteran Center, and the creation of scholarships aimed at nurturing future talent.
The $3 million donation, shared with his wife Judy, is a strategic investment in key university priorities of revitalizing Penn State and Penn State Athletics. Of the total amount, $2 million is pledged as an estate gift, with the remaining $1 million allocated to support entrepreneurship and athletic revitalization.
Invent Penn State, the university’s engine for innovation and entrepreneurship, will see tangible impact from this contribution. Funds will be directed to initiatives like the Penn State Investor Network, which connects startups with capital; the Summer Founders Program, which enables student ventures; and the Erickson Discovery Grants, which empower undergraduate research.
Another portion of the donation supports the ambitious Beaver Stadium renovation project, a symbol of unity and pride for the Penn State community. Through this dual investment, Gursahaney emphasizes both economic development and a shared sense of spirit and belonging.
His career encompassing leadership roles at The ADT Corporation, Tyco International, GE Medical Systems Asia, and various corporate boards, reflects a lifelong dedication to strategic growth and transformation. Now retired, Naren Gursahaney continues to channel his expertise and success into initiatives that prepare the next generation of leaders and innovators.
Gursahaney’s contribution not only stands as his gratitude towards his alma mater but also a call to fellow alumni to consider how Penn State has shaped their success stories and how they can contribute in building a future that thrives on opportunity, excellence, and shared purpose.
