Metal King Anil Agarwal donates 75 percent income to education

Metal King Anil Agarwal, the owner of Vedanta Group is donating 75 percent of his earnings to educational pursuits. The donation would amount to Rs 21,000 crore. The Patna born industrialist who resides in London, created the Vedanta Foundation in 1992. The foundation has invested $49.0 million in building hospitals, schools and infrastructure, conserving the environment and funding community programmes to improve health, education and livelihood of over 4.1 million people. In 2015, Vedanta collaborated with the ministry for women and child development to open 4,000 Nand Ghars or modern anganwadis. Of these, 3,000 have been set up till date. Agarwal counts Andrew Carnegie and David Rockefeller and Bill Gates as inspirations. The Metal King now hopes to create national “Oxfords” with a no-profit- no-gain ideology.
The company has also invested more than Rs 250 cores on Covid relief measures thus benefitting over 15 lakh people, and recently announced a massive vaccination drive for 15-18 year age group.
