On August 4, boxer Lovlina Borgohain won a bronze taking India’s tally to three at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. Before her badminton ace PV Sindhu clinched a bronze and weightlifter Mirabai Chanu earned a gold at the ongoing Olympics. The Indian women athletes are proving their mettle at the biggest sporting spectacle. Interestingly, out of the last nine India’s Olympic medals, seven have been won by women athletes. In 2012, Saina Nehwal and MC Mary Kom picked up a bronze at Olympics, and four years later, PV Sindhu won a silver and wrestler Sakshi Malik clinched a bronze. Women athletes are making it big at 2020 Olympics and their medal count is proof of it.
