Yoga in its most ancient form has been practiced in North India’s Indus-Sarasvati civilization in Northern India for about 4,000 years. It was first mentioned in Rig Veda, a collection of texts that consisted of rituals, mantras, and songs which was mainly used by the Vedic priests.
Yoga in Vedas means a yoke. Today, there are more than 100 styles of Yoga practiced across the world.
