(September 16, 2025) From a small village in Maharashtra to a regenerative farming ecosystem reaching customers in over 60 countries and empowering 20,000 farmers, brothers Ajinkya and Satyajit Hange are redefining what it means to farm with purpose. Co-founders of Two Brothers Organic Farms, their visionary brand marries ancient Indian farming wisdom with modern sustainability, powered by a mission to heal the earth and uplift farmers.
Having raised ₹72.75 crore from marquee investors including film star Akshay Kumar and Rainmatter by Zerodha, and earning recognition on the Prime Minister’s Mann Ki Baat, the duo has registered their firm in the US and opened an office in Dubai. Together, they are planting the seeds of a truly global food revolution. Their venture is a farmer-owned, soil-first brand from India that grows and crafts authentic, nutrient-rich food without shortcuts, guided by the principles of regenerative natural farming. Their venture’s mission is to restore integrity to the food system, delivering chemical-free products that are fully traceable to their roots.

The village that nurtured a dream
“We grew up in Bhodani, a small village surrounded by farms and the rhythms of rural life,” Satyajit shares with Global Indian. Yet their education took place in Pune’s Bishop’s School, a duality that would profoundly shape their worldview. “Every holiday, we returned to help on the family farm. That connection to the soil and community stayed with us.” Those early days taught them that farming was not just about growing crops but about nurturing the land and preserving traditions.
Ajinkya adds, “This blend of rural simplicity and urban learning gave us a unique perspective. We realised how disconnected people were from food and farmers.” The peace they found on the farm and the values of community and care became their life compass, quietly guiding them toward their eventual purpose.
From banking careers to fertile fields
The brothers spent nearly a decade in multinational banks before trading finance for farming in 2012. Ajinkya reflects, “Our corporate careers gave us discipline, financial skills, and strategic thinking vital for the challenges ahead.” They saw firsthand how city life distanced people from real food, further fueling their drive to start their organic venture.

Satyajit Hange
Satyajit recalls the early struggles: “Transforming degraded soil through regenerative methods was slow, and the financial losses were tough.” But the mindset forged in banking helped them persevere through failures, build systems, and take calculated risks, always holding fast to their mission.
They have ensured that the roles they have taken up serve the partnership best. Satyajit oversees marketing and farmer relations, focusing on shaping the brand’s public identity, building direct communication channels with customers, and strengthening collaborations with farming communities across India. Ajinkya leads finance, operations, and compliance, managing the enterprise’s financial health, streamlining daily operations, implementing quality control systems, and ensuring compliance with domestic and international standards.
Building a regenerative farming ecosystem
Starting with 32 ancestral acres in Bhodani, they created an Ecocert-certified organic farm and have since expanded to over 1,000 acres across India. An Ecocert-certified organic farm is one that has undergone official inspection and approval by Ecocert, an internationally recognized certification body headquartered in France, confirming it meets stringent organic farming standards. “Two Brothers is more than a brand,” Satyajit says; “it’s an ecosystem restoring soil health and biodiversity while building fair, transparent systems for farmers.”
The brothers have trained 20,000 farmers nationally to adopt organic practices and access equitable markets, crafting traditional products like cold-pressed oils, A2 cultured ghee, and jaggery—all reflecting deep respect for the earth’s bounty.

Going global with an Indian heart
Satyajit shares why they registered Two Brothers in the US: “Our dream was always global. Food crosses borders, connecting cultures. We want share India’s farming story worldwide.” With over 12,000 US customers and a Dubai office serving the UAE market, their reach spans 60+ countries.
Ajinkya emphasizes, “Global expansion is about sharing our regenerative philosophy with integrity. We’re focused on traceability and ensuring the values we live by in India translate abroad.” Their growth in the USA and MENA markets is supported by strengthened supply chains, robust marketing, and education to reach new audiences.
Overcoming adversity and changing perceptions
“Years of chemical farming had ruined the soil fertility,” Ajinkya says talking about their biggest challenge. “Rebuilding through crop diversity, composting, and food forests required patience and innovation.” Another hurdle was the stigma around farming: changing beliefs that farming isn’t dignified or viable.
Satyajit adds, “When farmers get proper training and fair prices, farming becomes aspirational.” The brothers believe this mindset shift is critical to reviving rural livelihoods and Indian agriculture.

Ajinkya Hange
Though based in a village, the brothers embraced digital tools early on. Ajinkya explains, “Our website connects customers across 20+ Indian states and over 60 countries without middlemen.” Social media has become their storytelling stage, showcasing organic rhythms, seasonality, and farmer stories, deepening trust and community. During the pandemic, this digital presence allowed them to meet soaring demand seamlessly, proving that technology can overcome rural isolation.
“Instead of heavy machines, we use small-batch traditional methods—bilona-churned ghee, wood-fired cooking, stone milling—that preserve nutrition and flavour,” Satyajit informs proudly. Crop rotation, intercropping, and food forests restore soil naturally, while equipment sharing and low capital costs keep operations lean and sustainable.
Memorable milestones and lasting impact
Satyajit never forgets a defining moment when a trader dismissed their organic papayas as “ugly” compared to the shiny, chemically polished fruit in the market. The trader remarked that consumers “buy with their eyes first,” a comment that stayed with the brothers and hinted towards a larger challenge: they would have to change not only farming methods but also public perceptions of what real, naturally grown food should look like.
Their work received a powerful boost when their initiative got recognized on Prime Minister Modi’s Mann Ki Baat for uplifting over 9,000 farmers, reflecting impact beyond business. The brothers’ trailblazing efforts earned accolades including being named India’s No.1 organic brand by Vogue in 2018 and The Better India’s #1 idea to transform agriculture in 2019. Shopify featured their journey globally, and they’ve been invited to present their growth story at IIM Ahmedabad.
Talking about their future plans, Satyajit outlines their goals: “We aim for 100 percent farm-to-fork traceability. Also, we want to formalise farmer training and expand our network nationwide.”
While Ajinkya adds, “In the US, we’re creating new use-cases to reach beyond the Indian diaspora, while doubling down on distribution and marketing.” Their mission remains steadfast: to fix the broken food system by focusing on soil health, food traditions, and farmer livelihoods.
A beacon for the future
Two Brothers Organic Farms is proving that ancient wisdom and cutting-edge vision can grow a sustainable future. Satyajit and Ajinkya Hange’s journey from Bhodani’s fields to the global stage inspires a renewed respect for farming, reminding us all that the health of our planet and communities begins with the soil beneath our feet.
