An Indian FAANG? Lessons from Jeff Bezos and Amazon

Loss-making companies have been listing on overseas exchanges for several years. Amazon listed on the US exchange NASDAQ 25 years back, in 1997, only two years after starting business, and with no profits to show. In 1998, Jeff Bezos’ first annual letter to Amazon shareholders said that Amazon’s path to growth would be unconventional, and unlike most companies, it would take decisions with a focus on market leadership, rather than on profitability.
