India is home to some of the most generous donors, but our diaspora population is equally philanthropic. People such as Dr. Uma Devi Gavini and Dr. Mani Bhaumik have, in the past, made generous donations towards a social cause they feel strongly for. Joining the bandwagon is Dubai-based prominent NRI businessman and Philanthropist Dr. Ronald Colaco, who recently got awarded the certificate of excellence by the World Book of Records, London.
The businessman has played an instrumental role in the construction of educational and medical infrastructure across Karnataka. He also helped the state government uplift the economically backward sections of society by providing quality and free education to underprivileged kids. The certificate was presented to him at the House of Commons, British Parliament during the Indo-UK Leadership Summit, by Virendra Sharma, Member of Parliament, London, United Kingdom.
Speaking at the event, Virendra Sharma, Senior Labour Member, UK Parliament, said that Dr. Colaco is spreading the message of love, peace, and harmony, through his work. “Dr. Colaco stands in line with former US President Barack Obama and other world leaders who are spreading love and harmony in the world. The world needs more people like them. Dr. Colaco has distributed the fruits of his achievements to the entire state and the country. His family has also wholeheartedly supported him in this noble cause,” he said.
Hailing from Moodbidri near Mangaluru, Colaso began his professional career in Oman in 1975 before working in eight other Arab and European countries as an accountant. He was elevated as commercial CEO for a consortium of three multinational corporates, including CCICL (Greece), Mannesmann (Germany), and Saipem (Italy). Putting his rich experience in diverse capacities to good use he became an entrepreneur by starting Clarks Exotica Convention Resort & Spa. A book on the life and achievements of Dr. Colaco, ‘Vishwabhooshana‘, was also released during the event.
