Skateboarding, a sport that was once identified as a counter culture movement, has now found strong roots across India.
India's first skate park was built in early 2000 in Goa by UK’s Pro Skater Nick Smith.
Over the years, cities such as Bengaluru, Mumbai, Delhi, Hyderabad, Pune, Jaipur, Indore, Gwalior, Vizag, Calicut, Sonepat, Maligaon (Assam), and Dhelpur (Punjab) added their own skate parks.
Holystoked is a skateboarding collective that was established in 2010 by Abhishek Shakebake and his friends to promote the sport in Bengaluru.
Holystoked built the Desert Dolphin Skatepark at Khempur, Rajasthan for the Netflix movie Skater Girl.
