Teen UmaSofia Srivastava (17) is a
Mexican Indian
and grew up in a multicultural and inclusive home.
She loved beauty pageants but saw that Indians and Mexicans were underrepresented, and wanted to be part of a change.
She went on to create history by becoming the first
Miss Teen USA
from Jersey.
UmaSofia, who is the author of
The White Jaguar
, plans to continue her advocacy work for education and acceptance with her children's book and charities.
She's also focusing on her future, finishing high school with honors and starting the college application process.
With her sights set on the future, UmaSofia dreams of becoming a
UN ambassador
and using her platform to create positive change.
