As the population increases, so will our energy needs

The global population is growing at a rate of 1.1% every year; which means over 83 million births per annum on the planet. With these figures in mind, the International Energy Agency (IEA) forecasts that the additional power demand will rise to the tune of 20% to 30% by 2040. Given that the planet is already struggling with the massive amounts of emissions due to power generation and a host of other practices, countries’ aims to reduce emissions seems unlikely. However, power generation by net zero emission is essential if we are to achieve the target of expert guidelines on global warming to remain under 1.5° C. Alternative sources of energy such as hydrogen fuel might just be the answer and can minimize our dependence on conventional fossil fuel.
