Who is Prafulla Dhariwala, the Indian techie who received high praise from OpenAI's Sam Altman

Originally from Pune, Prafulla, who says his name is pronounced like ''truffle' but with a 'P', is the Head of Omni at OpenAI and co-created several AI models.

Prafulla had started creating his own website at the age of 11. He won gold medals at the International Astronomy Olympiad (2009), International Mathematical Olympiad (2012), and International Physics Olympiad (2013).

He had a top score in the IIT-JEE but chose to study at MIT. He then joined OpenAI as a research assistant in 2016.

GPT-4o would not have happened without the vision, talent, conviction, and determination of Prafulla Dhariwal over a long period of time. That, along with the work of many others, led to what I hope will turn out to be a revolution in how we use computers," Altman said in his post on X.
