Indian-American oncologist and Pulitzer Prize winner, Dr. Siddhartha Mukherjee has made it to the longlist of the Baillie Gifford Prize for non-Fiction.

It was for his book, "The Song of the Cell: An Exploration of Medicine and the New Human." 

The book focuses on the emerging realm of cell therapy and its transformative impact on the treatment of serious ailments such as cancer, Alzheimer's, and AIDS.

Dr. Mukherjee is one of 13 authors from around the world in contention for the GBP 50,000 prize.

The judges believe that the book extensively covers the topic of cells, and consider it Dr. Mukherjee's "most spectacular book yet."
