Nagi Naganathan was born in Kumbakonam, India, and went on to become a distinguished leader in the field of education. His journey began in his home country, where he received his early education.

Naganathan served as the dean of the College of Engineering at the University of Toledo for over 15 years. During his tenure, he implemented innovative programs and initiatives that helped to improve the quality of engineering education at the university

In 2014, Naganathan made history by becoming the first person of Indian origin to serve as president of the University of Toledo. He served in this role for a year before accepting the presidency of the Oregon Institute of Technology

In 2017, Naganathan became the president of the Oregon Institute of Technology (Oregon Tech). Since then, he has focused on expanding the reach and recognition of the university, as well as securing funding for new facilities and programs.

Naganathan is the recipient of numerous awards and honors, including the Distinguished Alumnus Award from NIT Trichy and the President's Medal from the American Society of Mechanical Engineers.

Naganathan is a strong advocate for diversity and inclusion in higher education. He has implemented programs and initiatives at both the University of Toledo and Oregon Tech that aim to create a more welcoming and inclusive environment for all students.
